Most Medicare Advantage plans come with some supplemental benefits, so in addition to price, be sure to pay attention to the included benefits to get the most from your 2024 Medicare plan.
For example, Priority Health Medicare Advantage plans start as low as $0 a month and include vision, dental and hearing coverage, out-of-state travel benefits, a free gym membership and much more.
If you’re shopping for a Medicare plan for 2024, here are some supplemental benefits to look for:
1. Take a closer look at vision and hearing coverage
While original Medicare does not offer vision and hearing coverage, many Medicare Advantage plans do. Priority Health Medicare Advantage plans include routine vision coverage from EyeMedSM and hearing coverage from TruHearing® providers. This means you will not pay a thing for your yearly vision or hearing exam. Plus, all plans include an eyewear allowance of $100-$200 per year to help pay for glasses or contacts and hearing aid coverage.
2. Travel without worry
Many Medicare Advantage plans include travel benefits that make sure you’re covered if you are traveling outside your home state.
Priority Health Medicare Advantage plans all include the Priority Health Travel Pass which allows you to see any Medicare-participating provider outside the lower peninsula of Michigan and still pay in-network prices. Plus, you have access to MultiPlan® Medicare Advantage network providers anywhere in the U.S., and unlimited worldwide urgent and emergent care coverage.
Many of Priority Health’s Medicare Advantage plans also include global emergency travel assistance from Assist America® that helps coordinate medical care, find a doctor or pharmacy and fill prescriptions if you are more than 100 miles from home or in a foreign country.
3. Preventive dental care that will make you smile
Did you know that people with gum disease have nearly double the risk of heart disease than do those with healthy gums? Original Medicare does not cover preventive dental services, but many Medicare Advantage plans do.
For example, Priority Health partners with Delta Dental® to provide preventive exams and cleanings, one set of bitewing X-rays and one brush biopsy each year, covered at no cost to you. Several plans also include coverage for things such as fillings and crown repairs.
4. Reduce your spending with an over-the-counter allowance
From ibuprofen to cough drops, over-the-counter health and wellness purchases can add up over time. To help member with these unavoidable extra costs, many Medicare Advantage plans offer an over-the-counter allowance.
All Priority Health Medicare Advantage plans include an over-the-counter allowance. The specific amount depends on the plan, but with the allowance you can purchase health and wellness products and, depending on the plan, sometimes healthy food and produce at retail locations including CVS, Meijer, Kroger, Walgreens, Walmart and more. You can also purchase items online, by phone or by mail.
5. Stay active with a free gym membership
Many Medicare Advantage plans offer fitness incentives, such as free gym memberships, to promote physical health and overall wellness.
Priority Health offers a free membership to SilverSneakers® with every Medicare Advantage plan. SilverSneakers is a free and convenient fitness program that gives you access to members-only virtual exercise classes, home fitness kits and thousands of participating fitness centers nationwide.
6. Get care from the comfort of home
Virtual care allows you to receive medical care for non-emergency conditions without having to leave home. All you need is an internet connection and a computer, smartphone or tablet. Because of this convenience, many Medicare Advantage plans will offer virtual care.
Priority Health Medicare Advantage plans include $0 in-network virtual appointments with your primary care provider, a specialist or a behavioral health provider.
7. Save on prescription drug coverage
Prescriptions are often a necessary part of life. While Original Medicare doesn’t offer prescription coverage, most Medicare Advantage plans do. Finding a plan with affordable drug coverage can save you a lot of money each year.
All Priority Health Medicare Advantage plans have a $0 deductible for tier 1 and tier 2 drugs, and most plans have a $0 deductible for all drug tiers. With all plans, you’ll pay $0 for a 90-day supply of tier 1 drugs when filled at any of our more than 60,000 preferred retails pharmacies. You’ll also pay $0 for a 90-day supply of tier 1 or tier 2 drugs filled through mail order pharmacy, Express Scripts.
8. Get your questions answered
When it comes to Medicare, you have a lot of options. You might also have a lot of questions. For your own peace of mind, it’s important to know how quickly and easily you’ll be able to get those questions answered.
